VISITING RESEARCHERS OPPORTUNITIES

@ Orpheus Institute - Orpheus Research Centre in Music [ORCiM]

The Orpheus Institute announces a limited number of VISITING RESEARCHERS POSITIONS available to researchers from around the world, in order that they may work within the unique [ORCiM] artistic research environment. Orpheus Institute is situated in the city of Ghent, Belgium, a beautiful historic location with a reputation as a prominent scientific research environment, and providing easy access to other well-known European cities.

 

 

WHAT ARE VISITING RESEARCHERS?

 

A Visiting Researcher is generally an academic/artist-researcher at another institution, although the Institute would also consider hosting someone who is working towards a graduate degree or doing postgraduate work at another institution.

  • The opportunity to work for up to six months with other dedicated researchers within the artistic research environment of ORCiM
  • Contextualizing personal research work with the specific ORCiM research agenda:
    Artistic Experimentation in Music (2010-2013)
  • Access to specialized facilities for artistic research in music, including office space

 

INTERESTED IN APPLYING?

To apply to the Visiting Researcher Programme, applicants must provide information about themselves through submission of:

  • a curriculum vitae
  • a 2,000-word outline of the specific research project proposed, including 1/ a time plan and 2/ an explanation of how the research will be linked to the ORCiM research agenda
  • three addresses for letters of recommendation from professors and others who know the work
  • and in the case of graduate students, transcripts from each university attended.

DEADLINES

  • April 15, 2012 for applicants wishing to commence research
    - beginning in Autumn 2012 (short-term notice)
    - beginning in Autumn 2013 (long-term notice)
  • September 15, 2012 for applicants wishing to commence research
    - beginning in Spring 2013 (short-term notice)
    - beginning in Spring 2014 (long-term notice)

 

September application decisions will be made by early November.
April application decisions will be reached by early June.
