Visiting Researcher Vanessa Tomlinson showcases recent collaborations at Orpheus Institute.
Vanessa Tomlinson - Australian percussionist and Associate Professor in Music at Queensland Conservatorium (Griffith University) - is Visiting Researcher at the Orpheus Research Centre in Music [ORCiM] from November 2013 until January 2014.
This mini-concert features new experimental provocations and collaborations with resident ORCiM Fellows set up during Vanessa's stay in Ghent. A series of 6 new works experimenting with making sound; kinetic music made by ropes and splayed electronics; music inspired by the notion of “time crystals”; music for the body; and music for the imagination itself.
Guitarist, composer and artistic researcher Marlon Titre is the eleventh doctoral student to receive a PhD from Leiden University after having completed the docARTES doctoral programme in music, organized by the Orpheus Institute in Ghent.
On Tuesday 10 December at 16.15 a.m., at the Academiegebouw Leiden, Rapenburg 73, Marlon Titre will defend his thesis Thinking through the guitar: the sound-cell-texture chain.
