SUMMER SCHOOL LONDON - Start of the Academic Year 2008-2009
28-04-2009The first Summer School, as part of the joint doctoral curriculum in musical arts, took place from 3-5 September 2008 at the Royal College of Music (London , Unitied Kingdom). During this gathering, the new doctoral students were introduced in the documa project working (and the nature of the collaboration of the several partner institutions), the current state of debate of research in-and-through musical practice, and the objectives and expectations of the joint doctoral curriculum. Each documa partner gave a short presentation of the working and facilities in their institution. Corresponding to that, group visits to the RCM Museum of Instruments and Library were organised. Besides, all students were asked to give a lecture-performance in order to present their research study to fellow-students, teaching staff, supervisors, and documa staff. The BBC Proms was an appropriate occasion to end this succesfull first edition of the Summer School in style.
